The Ukrainian Curling Federation continues its coordination with friendly Member Associations ahead of the upcoming World Curling Open Meetings in Geneva.
As part of this work, the Federation has circulated an information package containing an update letter on recent developments, a request for written clarification to World Curling, the original Russian media interview at the center of the matter, its English translation, and the public statement of the Ukrainian Curling Federation.
The purpose of this communication is to ensure that friendly Member Associations are properly informed ahead of the meetings in Geneva both about recent procedural developments within World Curling and about the way Russia is publicly characterizing these associations in its media space.
In the circulated interview, the Russian side presents friendly Member Associations not as legitimate participants in the discussion raising governance and integrity concerns, but as part of an alleged “anti-Russian lobby.” For the Ukrainian Curling Federation, this is an important and revealing element of the current situation.
Such rhetoric is not incidental. It shows that, while Member Associations are insisting on transparency, proper procedure, and clear rules, Russia is simultaneously attempting to shape the media narrative by discrediting those who maintain a principled position.
For this reason, the Ukrainian Curling Federation considers it necessary to continue coordinating with friendly Member Associations and to provide them directly with the relevant documents and materials.
The Federation will continue its coordination with friendly Member Associations in the lead-up to the Open Meetings in Geneva and will continue to advocate for a documented, transparent, and properly governed discussion of this issue.
